Week 3: Last matches for preliminary round

Points table and Standings updated:

Match 9
Rajni's 11 vs 13 warriors
Winners: Rajni's 11

Synopsis:
Rajni,s.... What a great performance in a do or die match.. Though i should say, not without a hick up at the end..
Rajni,s electing to bat first, 2nd time in the tournament started their innings with a perfect example of miscommunication and a run-out mishap loosing their first wicket.
The story after that was a bit different. Some fine shots and excellent running between wickets from both Rahul Gadkari and Vamsi ensured Rajni's were in for a big score.
The following batsman didnt make much of an excellent start provided, but in the end made a competitive 63. Some sloppy fielding and dropped catches did help and also the warriors early in the innings mostly seemed complacent, may be they had in mind that they have a secured spot for the play-offs, but as the runs started coming by in boundaries, the had to charge up again.
The 2nd Innings: Rajni's aggression continued right from the get go sending the openers back in the first two overs. Parthiv stabled the innings by continuously rotating the strike and hitting odd boundaries, something that he is known for. Finally Somnath got the much needed break through to pause the free flowing runs. Following batsman decided to stay with their captain to support from outside after they paid a quick visit to the batting crease. The Warriors had almost lost the match  when they needed 20 runs off the last two overs. From nowhere, Tushar pulled a dhoni trick out of his bag and hit Rajni's star performer of the day out of park two times in the same over. The game was suddenly on. Only problem was that was the last wicket out there and was lost in the 2nd ball of the last over.
Rajni's peformance was clinical in most aspects and looking at the way they bowled in their last two games, it was clear why other teams were wary of their bowling line up.
Warriors on the other hand, depend heavily on their best two players and contribution from others is certainly required if they need a spot in the final match.

Match 10
Spartans vs The Blue Indians
Winners: Spartans

Synopsis:
A do or die match for Spartan's, they had to make sure they win this one and even if they loose, get so close so that their net run rate stayed above the Rajni's. They were obliged by Blue's here.
Already secured a spot in the play offs, Blue's came out with just 9 players on the field and elected to bat. Missing out on their main players (Akhil and Siddharth), Blue's seemed upbeat and willing to let go of this match easily. Opener's started of well by hitting a boundary in the very first over. There after Spartans kept taking on wickets regularly not allowing any batsman to settle down. Blue's ended up with a score of 48 helped with over 10 extra runs from Spartans. A decent enough score considering just 9 people batting.
The 2nd Innings: Spartans started in style with Suteja hitting a sixer in the first over. Shiva also registered his highest score yet in the tournament that included 2 hits over the fence. Taking advantage of 2 short players, Spartans achieved the total sparing one last over. A sweet victory to secure a spot in the play offs.
Rajni's will have to accept the bitter truth and blame Blue's for not playing with full strength. Who know's results would have been different. Nothing to take away from Spartans, the bowled and batted well to win this match and head on to the play offs. Positive's for them, one of their major batsman scoring runs and others should too watch out for him.
